2008 Pikes Peak Sidecar Crash at Engineer's Corner

About 2 miles into the race we made a little miscalculation and blew the turn. The video camera stopped recording on the starting line and then came on a short time into the race then went off again before Engineer's corner and then started again on impact at the bottom of the ditch. I was sure that I did not get the wind knocked out of me until I saw the video and heard me sucking in a couple of big gulps of air. The dust above me in the camera view is from the sidecar team that we passed earlier as they come off the road into the dirt above us. I seem to have some personal space issues judging by my reaction to being held down. Enjoy the video.

Thank you very much for posting.  I was amazed you two were OK. That was nasty the way both of you flipped off. Syncronized. Hope you two make it back next year but cruise on by our corner. Tyler and Kayla say Hi.

We were very lucky and even if it wasn't our plan to spend the race in that corner with all of you, it was nice to meet everyone. I think our plan next year is just to wave as we go by instead of stopping. Say hi to Tyler and Kayla for me and I look forward to seeing them again in 2009.

I watched Bryan´s video before you uploaded this one, and I was sure someone went off that corner because of the tire marks on the road. Hope you are OK. Bryan didnt have much luck.

I think the tire marks were from the blue Chevy S-10 that was hanging in the trees when we got there.
