  • Respond to this video... Your comments seem to have taken a turn that is undesirable for my participation. Your condescending tone is reminiscent of the paternalism and eventual imperialism always displayed by those who think they hold THE true knowledge. If I have offended you or your belief system in any way please forgive me. Peace.

  • @StabbyRaccoon The last thing I will say in defense of the masses who would just like to stand free of the modern machine is; "thinking, saying and walling" is a mischaracterization of living successively for a lifetime and for generations.

  • @Shareefllovekdj Just thinking of the difference between a randomized controlled trial with rigorous biochemistry and some crap that some old dude said once and believed for some reason that he happened to think was a good reason there is no comparison. You can believe all of the superstition you want, but don't expect anyone else to be convinced.

  • @Shareefllovekdj I'm not saying that the only viable perspective can come from science, I am saying that if you want to be right and convince other people, then you should probably come up with something better than "these people dun said it and walled it wisdom so let's believe it!" it's total dogma with no verification. Okay so somebody said it long ago, big deal what if they were wrong? Humans aren't exactly the most intellectual honest species, appeal to tradition doesn't work very well.

  • @StabbyRaccoon Please remember that the world and it's people have existed long before the scientific method. If things stay on their current course most of human existence will have been lived without it. Believing the only viable perspective to view the world from is the scientific viewpoint, is only a pillar in the secularist theology. One that should be debunked by simple reflection.

  • @StabbyRaccoon You are correct in this. True science is a neutral player here. What I mean is the dogma that is taken as gospel in an uncritical way due to the seeming consensus of those with scientific credentials. Who has examined the evidence on smoking or global warming?... No one yet religious style beliefs have been formed by activists. Smoking seems harmless... on Kitava.

  • "Tradition wisdom" is unverifiable and limited in its scope. How are we supposed to know that something is correct simply because people believe it? Okay so X group of people did something and weren't completely and utterly dead compared with those eating fast food and candy, so what? Does that mean that it is best to do what they do? You can't really know that, you can just say "well the Inuit didn't have any cancer, so animal protein probably isn't a cause of cancer", but how much is good?

  • @Shareefllovekdj Just try to understand the difference between deferring to whatever someone who calls themselves an authority says and proportioning one's beliefs to the actual evidence. Sometimes you have to roll up your sleeves and seek out better sources or evaluate it yourself. I look at the evidence that they claim proves that dietary or serum cholesterol, or saturated fats or whatever is unhealthy and I think "these charlatans don't have a clue", it's not science's fault.

  • @StabbyRaccoon You asked, "What is the alternative to scientific evidence?" Traditional Wisdom... Modeling those who have been sucessful in the past. Instead of throwing out every baby that doen't fit the science de jure model with the bathwater.

  • @Shareefllovekdj

The problem isn't "science", but poor quality science. There is plenty of good science out there. What is the alternative to scientific evidence? There is no good one, we just need to be critical of the science that we read.
