"The Blue Room" played by Vince Giordano's Nighthawks in the Vanderbilt Room in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, and at the same time out in the lobby it is played by Peter Mintun on the Cole Porter piano. I found this amusing, hope you do, too.

  • I should have clarified, Peter Mintun could hear the Nighthawks playing "The Blue Room" in the nearby Vanderbilt room, so he joined in, rather than fight it. He was hired to play at the same time out there in the lobby bar at the Waldorf. He has a good sense of humor, and an encyclopedic knowledge of the American Popular Songbook.

  • Either its a weird coincidence, or confirmation of the tune's enduring classic stature. Or both. :)
