Harvey Weinstein is a great producer and a surprisingly good man! I interviewed the guy who changed the way we view independent movies via his Miramax banner (with brother Bob Weinstein) for his entertaining and thought-provoking film, "My Week with Marilyn."
Based on two books by Colin Clark, "My Week with Marilyn" takes a snapshot of the icon while making the 1957 film, "The Prince and the Showgirl." The glorious Michelle Williams embodies Marilyn Monroe, Kenneth Branagh stars as Sir Laurence Olivier, and Eddie Redmayne is Colin Clark. The film is told from his perspective, but it's Williams' who will receive all the honors for her honest portrayal of Monroe. She's at once vulnerable and strong, petulant and pleasant. Williams deserves a Best Actress nomination, and yes, perhaps, the Oscar itself! She's long overdue!
In this interview, we talked about:
*** What made Weinstein interested in producing "My Week with Marilyn?"
*** Michelle Williams' performance
*** The many sides of Marilyn Monroe -- yes, she suffered for her art!
*** Did Michelle do her own singing and dancing?
*** The upcoming Palm Springs International Film Festival where Michelle is being honored, truly deserving!
Michelle williams is one of the best actresses of her generation. For some reason i didn't like her in dawson's creek (maybe because it was the show LOL) but she's done movies that have really shown her talent by delivering nuanced and wonderful performances.
