In Mileena Malign, frightened doll moves helplessly to her own destruction at the hands of the very person who should love and protect her. In this cycle of abuse, our heroine doll is destroyed over and over again, unable to escape the consequences of abuse, even in her dreams. Playing up the helplessness that abuse victims feel by making the object of this abuse a little girl's doll, we show how the need for love and protection, and consequent vulnerability this creates, destroy the mind as well as the body.
Careful attention to animation, exquisite texturing, extensive use of technical tools for cloth and hair simulation, and highly theatrical lighting bring this nightmare scenario to life in a powerful, disturbing way. We wish to believe the doll's vision is simply a dream, but we are not, in the end, let off so easily.
