Operation "Hammer-Down" was carried out. The entire city population would be sacrificed in order to stop the monster that was wreaking havoc throughout New York City. Until now, it was proven to be an unrelenting, unstoppable force. God save us all.
---------------
The events in the trailer pick up where the first movie ended.
This is the special edition / director's cut (me being the director) of the original trailer I posted way back on March 8, 2008 which is now one of (if not the) highest viewed Cloverfield 2 trailers on Youtube! So, why the re-release after all this time? First off, I really took a lot of the constructive comments from the first one and tried to incorporate them (if I agreed). One noticeable difference is that the monster is no longer seen in the trailer and I took it a different route. A lot of people mentioned that they knew the trailer was fake because that one second clip was from the original movie. Now, there are NO clips from the original. A lot of comments said this trailer was different from the rest as there was hardly any recycled footage from the original. So, I wanted to bring that to 100% non-recycled footage. I even used a different Bad Robot opening from the original trailer.
And yes... I can't stress this enough. I know it would not be called Cloverfield 2. But, since there is no name (yet) and I didn't want to make up a name so you all would pick that apart too, I just left it as Cloverfield 2 just so it is identifiable. After two years, I stick to my guns by putting the title in the trailer. It's no mystery of what it is.
I also wanted to clean it up some. I fixed some sound levels and did a LOT of rework of the aspect ratios and overall special effects used. Everything has been tightened up, especially the use of static overlay that was poorly executed in the original version.
Lastly, I bumped this up to 1080p. When I originally uploaded, it was right when YouTube was upgrading their videos to HD and mine was not at the time and it went from okay quality to really crappy. This was not the way it was intended to look. What you see here is how it should look.
So, I hope you enjoy this revamped trailer.

The sequel is coming out but no official release date. They are having trouble getting it into production due to other projects but they said we will be seeing a sequel to Cloverfield.
