  • This is one of my favorite hymns - - ALL YEAR!

Some people are looking forward to a street of gold and gates of pearl in heaven. Those are nice thoughts, but I am looking forward to meeting Cecil Alexander, who wrote the wonderful words of this hymn.

  • this is EXACTLY what's hard to find!! Recordings of hymnss the way you would hear them (or at least once upon a time) in church. No flamboyant arrangements. Contemplative and well done. Thank you! ! IT take me back decades....and brings back a sweet old style of worship I've left for newer....stuff.

  • pet peeve of mine. One doesn't feel "badly" but "bad." No one feels "happyily" "sadly", "greatly", etc.

  • Wonderful to hear this real version, I feel I am back at school in assembly, love it so much

  • This is great, Christmas carol karaoke organ and I mean no disrespect. I can sing along with this over Christmas and the cows and birds outside will enjoy it. Obviously I live in remote place and don't get out much!.... :) Thanks for the great music.

  • Hymns should have an organ accompaniment.

Not guitars, saxophones, trumpets shaking tambourines etc...this was very nicely played.

  • Alright. As I trust you can see, I retract my earlier heated comments.

All the best to HiFi HymnBook and it's stated "reason to be".

  • "Bare bones" is actually a pretty good description of what Hi-Fi Hymn Book does! We do play around with registrations at times but the majority of our stuff is played as simply as possible. Our website gives more info but we really aim to provide basic organ accompaniment to singing rather than spectacular organ performances. As you say, there are lots of great organists out there who are more talented than us!

  • Now I feel badly for what I wrote a few days ago.

Have I misconstrued the purpose of HiFi HymnBook? Is its purpose to give a bare bone rendering of hymn tunes played on organ, or--is it meant to inspire and thrill? If it's the former, I have no reason to complain. If it's the latter, I think I know a dozen organists that would be thrilled to submit inspired renditions of hymn tunes.

  • Sorry dude.
