  • This is another great train. Great group of 86' and 60' cars. I believe the ICG 86' car at 0:38 was built by Greenville Steel. And that National Steel 50' outside braced GTW boxcar at 2:08 is one of my all time favorite rail cars. Those NSC ribside cars were the successors to those smooth side NSC 50' newsprint cars that CN, CP, CV, and DWP owned and still own.

  • Weaver Models is still making the O Scale Grand Trunk Western 50' Plug-Door Box cars that nearly resemble the actual cars. There are a few minor body differences. The colors and markings are completely accurate on the Weaver versions.

  • A very beautiful video. Thank you. 5*

  • Your welcome. That was a great day for recording.

  • The KCS boxcar at 2:03 looks like a PS 5344. These have a unique roof and I always used to notice these right away in person. The roof is completely flat and then has a small 90 degree curve where it meets the sides. Lots of good stuff in this train!

  • The closest car I can think of in N is the Roundhouse 50' ribside plug door car. I think it is an FMC car. Athearn owns this tooling now. It lacks the 2 NSC-unique details listed above but is otherwise close. I can't remember if it has the same number of ribs or not. Sylvan makes HO resin kits of these NSC cars, but that's the only NSC-accurate model of this car I know of.

  • I think the 2 biggest details/spotting features unique to these NSC cars are the angled/tapered ribs, one each on each side of the door (narrow at the top, wide at the bottom) and the side sill is sort of like a fishbellied gondola, as cars by PS, FMC, ACF etc have a straighter side sill.
