DIPAYAN CHAUDHURI presents MISSION: COLA

This was a comics project I designed in 2003 when I was about to get into the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata with Motion Picture Photography as my subject. These were photographs taken with a still camera, not a digital one. My three brothers Sujoy Basak (Runu), Tanmoy Basak (Tanu) and Deepomoy Basak (Baban) played the three characters. Runu, six years younger to me, and the eldest in the video, died in a car crash in May, 2008. It was then only that I decided to make a short film out of these photographs, as a part of 'R For Runu', a memoir. This is also kind of a tribute to Charlie Chaplin and the silent era by adapting the written dialogue format. Now, the more I look back to Mission: Cola, it is more fun and amazement.
