im sorry but Reginald Owen looks a little too old. scrooge is supposed to be somewhere in his late 50's or early 60's isn't he? Owen looks like hes 70 or 80. i haven't seen this version but i do plan on watching it since i am a big fan of the book and the movies.
Thank you very much for uploading this, I love Reginald Owen as Scrooge but I do like Lionel Barrymore as well. This is a great trailer. Although Barrymore is American, there is something of a Dickensian flavour to it.
caittiesherre, that is really fantastic! I've loved this film since I was about three and I've treasured it since (along with Alistair Sim's version). Unfortunately they don't play it on television over here in England anymore but that's really cool your descended from him. Are you English or American? Obviously of you're from the US then you'll have English heritage but you know. I think that that's great :-)
yes it is cool. I am American, they do show this movie on T.V. But usually only once or twice a year on one or two channels. It is nice to see him on T.V though. It's nice to know someone who actually knows who he is.
That's cool, did he marry and settle in America then? I've got friends who live in the town in England where he was born. I must visit the US one day. My grandfather recorded this film when I was 3 years old (back in 1991) and I've always watched it every year. I couldn't choose between this and the 1951 film and I love the Scott and Stewart ones. This film has my earliest memories as a child and your great grandfather is part of that. I also like him in Mrs Miniver, A Tale of Two Cities etc.
