My Autism horse was foundered by his caretakers late January 2008 while I was in a concussion from an auto accident. He has been undergoing barefoot founder trims since his special frog support shoes were taken off, and is beginning to come around with the ability to handle more workouts. Sadly, he will never be able to jump again due to the extent of his injuries (3 mm sinker in both front hooves); however, we are working on trying to make a transition to dressage with him. He almost died when it happened, but now is very much appreciating his life. Founder recover, if it can happen at all, is a very slow process. This is a video of my Autism horse's progress in his recovery.
Glad to see he is doing good. :) I also have a foundered horse. He got foundered during the winter a few years ago when he was out to pasture. And we didnt realize he was getting to much food still until he went down from all the pain. But he is doing good now, and he is recovering fine and ive been riding him the last few days. :) He really seems to enjoy it.
