Only an attempt that Guzheng sounds similar to the Guqin. Hope really you enjoy it.

  • Wow! This was amazing, and inspirational for me. You play the guzheng like a guqin and its not too far off! I was stuck between choosing a guzheng or a guqin, because i love both instruments so much, i didn't know which one to play. I can get a guzheng and play both now : ]

how do you manage sliding on the strings? do you just bend the string?

and how do you get the sound made from 2:00 to 2:10? and again at around 3:30 to 3:50 (The very light sound)

Sorry if i ask so many questions!

  • @MichiNoSainou

Many, many thanks for your beautiful comment! I'm very happy you enjoyed it.

@ 2:00-2:10 and 3:30-3:50 I touched the strings very very slightly with my fingers.

BTW, I've made some "notations" on the surface on the guzheng with a pencil where I can touch the right tones there. These tones are called "flageolet"-tones.

You can do this on any string instrument, like the guitar. I recommend you to buy a guzheng, because the guqin is very difficult to play.

  • @Volker400 Aha! Thank you very much, I actually did do something like this a few days ago with a small guitar I have, I'm really going to get a guzheng now :D

  • @MichiNoSainou Very nice of yours! Hope I could help you a little bit!

Very best regards from Gerpan...er Germany,

    Volker

  • very well played

  • Thanks so much, my dear paochin!!

I'm honest to you, this is my personally favorite of my guzheng-videos here.

    It's also a kind of not-everyone's-cup-of-tea-music.

    Yours,

    Volker

  • This dosn't sound like Guqin to me but I think it is the true classical Chinese Guzheng playing.

    Excellent !!!

  • The concepts are good. To be honest I don't often hear the zheng being played in a "serious", classicizing way. I know the instrument is capable of it, but everyone usually plays so much damn flashy/folk music.

I think the aesthetic would be even better served by a slower tempo. There's some heavy beauty in what you do -- let it sink in!

  • @Volker400 What makes the Guqin harder to play then the Guzheng? I'm curious in learning one of these two instruments and I'm having a hard time choosing. What are the main differences?

  • You're absolutely right, it's not possible to imitate the Guqin sound really.

Many many thanks for your constructive comment, dear Wing!
