I met Eric in 1968 in Northwest, Washington D.C. I at that time was but a child, but he impacted my life as he actually taught my brother to play drums during those years while working as a drumming instructor at a Arts facility called the "New Thing" on 18th Street. All these years later I still remember him as being a very kind and determined teacher. I remember him also dabbling with the Xalophone too. After many years I want to just say, thank you Eric.

good to know he is still playing hard , he is one of the greatest fusion drummers and very under rated guy .
Just saw Eric with McCoy and Ravi Coltrane at Lincoln Center, he still kicks ass and he's refined his playing over the years.....now he kicks refined ass. One of the best alive for sure

YES! Eric Gravatt and his vertical ride cymbal. I dig his playing on McCoys' Focal Point album!
