Super Mario Bros. Altered State (loading)

Everyone knows the familiar Super Mario Bros. theme song .. everyone knows the cute blue sky, orange "?" blocks, Goombas, Koopas, Mushrooms., etc... But what happened to the familiar Super Mario the "alternative consoles?"

Here it is: A hacked Super Mario Bros. on the Commodore 64 (ran on CCS63 V3.0). What the crap is going on? It's just not right!!! This is nightmare-ish!
