from what I know, a transformer is a device used to increase or decrease voltage from a power line to either another power line or into your household electricity system.

i think that was lightning too honey. it normally glows a lot longer if a transformer is hit. type it in on here hun there are some clips of lightning hitting transformers its cool!!! :-)

Actually, that is not lightning. The same thing happens all the time where I live when there are heavy snowstorms. It's better when the clouds are all really low in the sky. Cool looking green glow effect, scared me when I was a little kid
