We get all the Christian holidays off...because those are state holidays now...
Do you have prayer in school assemblies or have to sing hymns? We did in primary school and the occasional assembly like the 11th November ones.

Giving them time off legitimises them. The only way to make it not important to them is for the state to stop giving religions privilege - it only does that to the big religions! It doesn't give people time off for things personally important to them or if it's important to their small religion only to big hulking ones. IF atheists pushed for it, we've got enough people to get it - we need to band together to get political power. But attempts to herd cats ...

More evidence for this actively being pressed on the world than 'male' or 'white' privilege. Not handing in your cross so you don't choke to death is more 'natural selection' than privilege! Only big powerful religions can do this. They only put their own life at risk because they were brainwashed to want to by their parents. Everyone gets time off for the most common religion's holidays, they have the power to impose that on the whole state.
