  • i`m starting my buddhist journey but i dont know where to start

  • @STARNPRODUCTIONS so you have tried meditation? Buddhism isnt just about meditation. there are a lot of similar values to the Christian faith. Its not about what is "better" everyone has their own path. Jesus is one path to the source/god/universe. We all want the same things in life. It matters not how we get there. What matter is how we treat other people and how we live our lives.

  • Please understand the various schools well.

  • @muffdriver69 wise words :-)

  • @ilovejapan888 Buddhism isn't about the teaching of an great teacher from Nepal. He was just one of the thousands in the universe to came down to guide us. It's more of a way of living, never a way of worshiping. If one does worship, it would be to worship oneself to gain the wisdom, compassion and respect and to care for others and keep a balance between one and the universe. The word Buddhism is just a word to describe this essence. The actions speak louder than words.

  • I am in the process of learning about Buddhism. I'm really interested because I've tried Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. None of it really had any special meaning to me. I like the idea that it's not really a "religion" per-say, but a way of life. Congrats on your road to Buddhism and hopefully I'll have good luck as well. :-)

  • verse OM MANI PADME HUM 1oo times EVERY MORNING.......... lORD BUDDHA BLESS YOU!

  • Going to meditate now :-)

  • Why im looking into this is because Buddhism is about peace and finding joy and happiness and thats awesome also it is accepting of other religions and doesnt try and convert people and try and get others to believe what you believe and also self-realization

  • First off, you are a very handsome man :)

Secondly I too will be studying buddhism and look forward to my journey into it and what it can offer me as I try to understand myself and the world around me more.

I hope your journey is a positive one and good luck! :)

  • @gleffew11 i mean cmon.. life cannot be an illusion and you cant reach nirvana and all that... no prob

  • I take refuge in the Buddha,

I take refuge in the Dharma,

I take refuge in the Sangha... my journey has also started.

  • @ilovejapan888 the best place to start is to attempt to find a temple or meditation center near you... other then that.. you really do NOT need anyone to make you a buddhist.. you can take the refuge on your own. The path is truly something you start on and complete on your own, from within.

  • I am from the state of New Jersey in USA and I became a lay Buddhist practitioner on Vesak in 2008. I am a follower of the Theravada school as I found the Mahayana and other schools to be too concentrated on deities and other metaphysical beings and holding regular people up as holy etc etc. while Theravada is most concentrated on the original teachings of the Buddha and that the Buddha was just a man.

Good luck in your path and I hope it is going well. The peace of the world be with you.

  • @STARNPRODUCTIONS Thanks for your comment. Buddhists dont just meditate. We also have prayer just like you. Unlike other religions we respect and honour the beliefs of others and we do not try to convert others. Buddhism is a life philosphy not strictly a religion. God and the universe, as well as you are one. There is no separation.

  • @RobbieBobbyBoy yes I have meditated lots in the past. It was a checkpoint toward Christianity for me. I agree with your words, however, God is a step higher than the universe, being his product. Don't mean to give you trouble, I just see more benefit in prayer. Have a good day friend. cheers.

  • @ilovejapan888 praying to Jesus is better than meditation and provides more benefit

  • @AlicesFanpire Oh very cool! :-)

  • @RobbieBobbyBoy A Norwegian one. You probably wouldn't understand it, but you can always use Google Translate, lol! :P lokus.no/?marketplaceId=4880522&languageId=1&siteNodeId=12435599 I swear to Buddha- (well not really, but you get the point.) -it's not virus or things like that! It's just random! :)

  • @candykis33 the desire for change in my life. I seemed to lack faith in my self and my future.

  • @AlicesFanpire hey there. Which website are you referring to? :-)
