Fabulous monsters that live in the water, Taniwha could be terrifying creatures that captured people and ate them. Others were kaitiaki, or protectors of iwi or tribes.

  • I was known as the taniwha guy in wellington 2006-2008 I did research a documentary and a trailer I even wrote a feature film script but no one would give me money to make the film since it was a big budget film and no one would trust a pakeha even though I sacrificed 2 years of my life for this project now it is in hiatus hopefully to made one day

  • they are kind of scaly, have big red eyes, you can see them swishing up the water here..... you have to look really carefully tho - its better in the HD version

Omg, no offence but honestly if ur seeing these as spirits, And they are apparently transformed into the likeness of water creatures, then dat is a bit deceiving, i am a christian and an Islander... I To was bought up on these stories i onced belived, i never saw anything of its kind, and still dnt 20years lata...
