  • @Akeuw I think the last one died last year. My great-grandpa died 10 or so years before I was born.

  • @Litterboxer529 Also, I thought there weren't much WWI veterans left, how much are still alive?

  • @Akeuw I know, it's just that for the longest time I thought my great-grandpa fought for Canada.

  • @Litterboxer529 "My *father* was German"

  • @Litterboxer529 Doesn't matter what side he was on, war is war. I even saw a picture of a German soldier being helped by British soldiers, right after the armistice (cease fire). The point is, they are all people with the value of life.

  • For the longest time I thought that my great-grandpa fought on the side of the Allies... until a couple of weeks ago I spoke with my grandfather, telling him that I watched "All Quiet on the Western Front" with my dad. I asked him, "What CEF battalion was your father in?" he laughed and said, "My grandfather was a German." I was very surprised.

  • I'm reading this book for school right now but I probably won't watch the movie. I'd rather picture it in my own color way than watch the black and white and get bored. Advantage of reading XD AWESOME book by the way.

  • the new verson of this movie is not better. I like this 1930 version.

  • The book was better.

  • In the 8th grade we were on the subject of WW1. My teacher Mr Drum told us the same thing: "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" \

He always overanalyzed on videos to point out propaganda. Now in the 10th grade that phrase still haunts me. Like I should fight for my country even if it's for a worthless cause.
