Back in the 1960s there was an amateur TV group in South Australia called ATV which were doing experimental broadcasts during the era and the personnel in the group are George Usher, John Ingham, Maitland Lane and Alan Nation.
This footage is a compile of clips from ATV featuring their experiments and equipment. Seen in the clips is some very unique looking home built image orthicon cameras and this even includes an experimental field sequential colour camera/television setup using colour wheels and also featured is a colour telecine in operation.
This footage was kindly sent to me by George Usher from the ATV team. I have known George for some years for his video transfer work but made a surprise discovery of the existence of ATV and his involvement with them when going through old CQ-TV magazines in the CQ-TV archives http://www.batc.org.uk/cq-tv/archive/index.html . It's amazing to learn of ATV and the experiments they did, especially with field sequential colour and it ads another chapter to the Australian television history book :).
Amazing material indeed!
