These little piggies are just about 10 minutes old. There are 7 of them--5 boars and 2 gilts. All are healthy and thriving. The American Guinea Hog is a critically endangered old homesteading pig. They only get to about 200-300 pounds and take 2 years to reach full growth. They were pretty much wiped out in favor of the factory farm pig which grows quicker to twice the size. American Guinea hogs are a great homesteading pig. They till up my fields, keep the rodent population in check, are quite self sufficient and have friendly personalities.
what is the difference in a homestead pig and a pot belly pig?
