my friend is rebuilding one of these, do u know the torque settings for the heads and mains and big ends?
-
11275.3 cc to be exact.
-
why can't all diesel engines sound like a 680?
-
Ha Ha. yes we have done that on the EVR as well. dont they sound a lot deaper with no exhaust.
-
680 engines tend to be 11.8 litres. Working on a Leyland Atlantean with one fitted. Also, those fitted under DMU's tend to have a higher output.

I think ive got a brand new piston and con rod in work for one of these ?
-
@AdeltonNZ The engine is out of a 1950's diesel train.

Greetings - love the short snip.
Whats the engine out of ?
I have a Bristol Hess Bus here in New Zewaland i'm converting to a motorhome running a Leyland 510.
Would love to get hold of a 680 Horizontal to repower my bus. Love the sound of the Leylands

Just for your information, the 600 family of engines started with 600 cu inch, and then you get the 680, followed by the 690 which was turbo charged, (this was unreliable, and later development saw it become the TL11) and the ultimate version was the 0.900 (about 15 litres) which was used on the leyland world master coach, an export only model for south africa.

No, the name does refer to cubic capacity. o.680 means oil engine, 680 is the cubic inches, like the 510 fitted to the leyland nationals, approx 8.3 litre. bedford was always the same too, 220, 330, 500 etc
what capacity is it about 10 litres?
