Aside from Gibson's Melody Maker I think I'm right in saying that Gibson's Les Paul Junior range is the most basic that the company produce. You may well view this guitar as limited in its range and capabilities, however I think I may be able to convince you otherwise as I've played many gigs with one of these guitars. First off, what's it made of and how's it been assembled....

The body and neck are solid Mahogany with a Satin finish nitrocellulose lacquer over an eye catching Cherry. The Rosewood Fretboard carries 22 nickel silver alloy medium gauge frets and white dot markers to aid orientation, whilst on the headstock the machine heads are made by Grover. The single bridge position P 90 pickup is operated via its volume and tone controls which just leaves Gibson's Vintage Style Wraparound Bridge to finish off the appointments.

The beauty of the Gibson Les Paul Junior 1958 is in its simplicity, its a design that has been popular for decades and still excites new generations of guitarists today, plus of course there's the added advantage that the simpler the design - the less likely it is to go wrong ...
by Gig Stig The fact that Gibson's Les Paul Junior first went into production in 1954 and still thrives today is in itself pretty remarkable, given we live in a digital, gadget drenched environment where whistles and bells seem to rule. Clearly though, for some of us ... 'less is more'.
The Gibson Les Paul Junior 1958, due to its light weight Mahogany Body and Set Neck design, is one of the most resonant instruments I've played in a long time. With a single strum of an E chord you can feel the whole instrument vibrate against your chest. The Mahogany Neck is Gibson's Chunky but very comfortable Vintage C profile. Plugged in the P 90 single coil pickup produces a musical, fat, chiming clean sound that cuts through the mix - a tweak of the tone control and more mellow sounds ensue. Further round the tone controls dial and I think we have a pretty convincing Jazz voice! Go into light crunch territory and your grin will broaden, this guitar excels for rock rhythm and riffing. For its next trick turn the wick right up and you've a warm rich lead sound to die for. The icing on the cake is when rotating the tone control fully anticlockwise, hey presto, Clapton's Woman sound or if you prefer a great neck pickup lead sound from a guitar with no neck pickup!! If you've never considered a Gibson Les Paul Junior 1958 because you think its limited, it's time to think again. This is a fantastic guitar and an affordable classic ... check it out at the Nevada Music Warehouse ...

  • @cartesianmed it is a reissue of a 1958 Les Paul Junior , I have the same guitar , but mine isn't the faded red ....... tell me why would they lie and sully their reputation ?

  • @NevadaMusicUK has this guitar the same dimension like an normal gibson les paul ?

  • whats that thing he plays with the heavy power chords?

  • @NLx360 Junior means it was the affordable model in it's day. Juniors were not made to be anything amazing. it has nothing to do with nobs or p-ups.

  • I have this guitar and im wondering is it gigable? or does the hum make it un useable? i have a boss ns-2

  • @NLx360 it means it only has the one back pickup, it has a p-90, and it only has two knobs. they cost less to

  • does the "junior" mean its smaller?

  • Why doesn't the video just fucking end at 2:07??

  • Hmmm. This is clearly NOT a 58 reissue, which is a double cut. The only single cut is the '57 custom shop reissue, which this is also not, as it doesn't have the angled wrap around tailpiece. This appears to simply be the new production Les Paul Jr., not a reissue.
