{smoke pours out out of opened door, engulfing Tooter, making him small enough to enter Mr. Wizard's home}

MR. WIZARD: Come in! Come in, my boy....

{as Tooter enters the small box, the scene fades out}

There was also an opening sequence as well:

TOOTER: (standing in a forest) Deep in the forest grows a tall, tall tree...[approaches a small tree] 'Course, it was a short tree, but it, er, GREW...and down at the bottom of that tree, there's a little old box that's really the home of Mr. Wizard, the lizard... {bends down and knocks on tiny door}

MR. WIZARD: [from inside, yawning] Yes?

TOOTER: It's, uh, Tooter the turtle, Mr. Wizard! I got another favor to ask!

There was a "tag", originally seen after the end of these stories, where Tooter finds himself back in Mr. Wizard's home:

TOOTER: Uh, gee, Mr. Wizard...I guess I made a mess out of things again!

MR. WIZARD: (chuckling) Always, ALWAYS, I tell you, Tooter-

'Be just what you is, not what you is not...

Why did the final line get clipped from all these? Mr. Wizard always used to say "Be just what you is. Be not what you is not. Dem dat does dis is da happiest lot!!" .. the most important message of the entire thing.

Incidentally, it was Tudor Turtle. I remember he used to have a crest when these were shown on TV in their entirety.

Thanks so much! I was talking to my kids the other night and something reminded me of Mr. Wizard and Tooter. I remembered just enough to make them want to see it for themselves and hear the voices. We had a great time watching this together.
