In 9th century, Azerbaijan was occupied by Arab empire and was Islamized by force. Azerbaijan's hero, Babek Khorramdin, became the fighter figure for the Azeris. All with Babek's help, Azerbaijan was able to fight against Arabs to gain its independence. Today, Azeris consider Babek as a symbol of courage and the struggle for independence.

  • Atropatene literally translates into its modern name, Azerbaijan. Atropatene meant land of fire, just like today. Modern Azeris speak Persian/Turkic language, but they originate from Caucasiod/Aryan race. Babek was an ethnic Azeri. He was born in Azerbaijan territory of Persia. His goal was to liberate Azeris and Persians from Arab empire.

  • the Turkish language did not arrive in Azerbaijan and Arran until three centuries later at the earliest. The inhabitants of historical Azerbaijan (in Iran) and Arran spoke Iranian languages at the time. Babak and his followers never spoke a word of Turkish. Romano-Byzantine sources are clear in identifying the Babak Khorramdin rebellion as a Persian movement aimed at re-establishing Persia’s independence from Arab Caliphate rule and reviving her Zoroastrian past.

  • why do u guys love to steal other countries cultures? is it because u guys lack one?

Babak Khorramdin is one of ancient Persia’s greatest icons. Babak fought the Arabian Abbassid Caliphate in Baghdad (750-1258AD) to restore the independence of Persia which had been lost after the Arab victories over the Sassanian Empire at the Battles of Qadissiya (637AD) and Nehavand (651AD).

  • Papak Ahourmazdin was a Persian, speaking Persian language, Based on his own words, he was not a fan of Turks (from central Asia) nor moslim/Arabs. Moslem historians called him Babak Khorramdin (insulting, like Babak happyreligion) and it was several centuries later that central Asian Turk soldiers taking over their Arab war lords settled in "Atra-abadegan" (Azer-bayjan?!)(Babek Khorramdin?!) there is no Azari language, it's in fact Persian grammer with %75 turkic words, ...

  • Good job azeries, you have hungarian (savar magyar) blood!

Opos the sabir had similar heroism against the Calpihate. in 738.

  • So, azeris against islam ?

  • @ninetoyadome actually , ancient albania had it's own population of turks ( up to 4 tribes out of 25 ) of Turkick speaking type .

Which means that it is possible that he speaked Turkick , as he fought on a land called Azerbaijan , alongsidde with Azeri Javanshir , who has turkik origins .

I know it is debatable , whether he is Azeri or not , but he fought for our county's independance on OUR land , the land of Albania and Atropatene .

After Turks came 3 ct later , we became much stronger

  • Babek (Hasan) was a native Azeri, he spoke on anicient azeri language. Iran is Azerbaijan province. Persia (Fars) is not Iran. We are anicent azeri nation which was mixed with caucasian albans and then partly with turk. our language was turk language. By the way. Shakh Ismail, Shakh Nadir, Aga Mohammed Gaadjar were not persians. they were azeri turks. Babak was not turk, but he was AZERI. Persian people, you were ruled the last centures by azeri-turk shakhs. eat your shirts )))))

  • Отличный клип!

  • You persian imbeciles seem to forget that nation-states with one language are a very recent phenomenon that occurred as a result of the centralization of power which was made possibly due to the technological achievements of the industrial revolution. No sizable ''nation'' consisted of ONE ethnic group and the persian empire is no exception. That area of Iran was never inhabited by ethnic fars, so stop trying to claim it.

  • GREat azERI HERO
