  • The book is a masterpiece. it eclipses the movie

  • @donaldnewton58 it's still a piece of shit, no matter what the intentions were, it sucked. Terrible acting, terrible directing terrible movie. Nothing to do with the case at all. Dreadful. But hey, if you enjoyed it, great.

  • @lokeydaniel The book was mediocre. Purely mediocre pulp fiction

  • @skylur44 Stop being harsh you're looking way into the actual story of the real Dahlia. This movie was never about Elizabeth Short...it was about 2 men who worked on the case of the Black Dahlia.

  • Don't know why people are downvoting you. You are 100% right. DePalma is the very definition of a hack.

  • DePalma is a very poor filmaker.

He has a hardon for Hitchcock, long takes and chicks in wigs.I say chicks because woman mean nothing in his films. They are just eye candy(in wigs) that have no input to the outcome of the film.

He's been making the same rubbish for 30 years.

  • Only movies I've seen based on Ellroy were LA Confidential (a masterpiece in every way), and Dark Blue (mostly entertaining but nothing like LAC).

    Thanks for the hot tips.

  • I saw a tv adaptation of Brown's requiem lately that was a masterpiece when compared to this glossy piece of crap. how could Ellroy be excited by that sub zero adaptation of his book? divorce money easily earned I suppose. From the first scene you know you're in for a rip off.

  • WORST piece of CRAP ever filmed. Both Ellroy and De Palma should be ashamed of this. The entire movie shows nothing explains nothing and has nothing whatsoever to do with the Dahila, only focusing on two of the most boring inept detectives ever seen on film. This movie is HORRIBLE and should not have the title as we see virtually nothing about the Dahlia, just a really boring stupid badly written badly acted and badly directed POS.
