In Chinese culture, the parents dictate the lives of their children. Children is bound by filial piety to obey whatever their parents command. Your question of "what gives them the right..." is irrelevant. This is a culture that imparts "rights" to the specific role a person plays in the world. Parents have absolute control over their offspring and no one else has the right to question it. Homosexuality is considered the antithesis to one's Duty and Piety to one's Ancestors.

That's true. My Chinese family is generally hush hush when it comes to speaking about any sexuality, but they're not about to go on a witch hunt or react violently to homosexuality. I think the general negative reaction in my country (US) stems from the majority's religion (Christianity), which is often more dogmatic, thus more intolerant, than the main religions in China - I haven't heard of any groups holding "God(s)/Buddha's Philosophy/Confucius's Philosophy Hate Fags" signs in China.

China is conservative. True. But if you are a gay in China it doesn't you will have trouble. There are lots of gay bars and gay people holding hands walking down the street wont get arrested as long as you're not creating trouble.
