With his God-given abilities of athleticism, height, and long arms, yes I'd be good. I'd probably have played varsity at most schools. I'd probably play for a top notch traveling team and be dunking. But would I be as good? Hell no, he has worked so hard on his game (although if he was 5'6 people probably wouldn't push him to do so at all) and deserves his recognition.
