Of the over 600 different recordings I have of the Liszt sonata in B minor, this live performance by Rian de Waal in Atlanta is one of my all time favorites. I recorded it from a radio broadcast in 1986 of the Liszt Centenary Festival concerts. Rian de Waal plays this magnificent work with fire, passion, and bravura. Other Liszt works he included in this concert were the Benediction to God in Solitude, two Hungarian Rhapsodies (nos. 3 and 12), and the beautiful Widmung.

Indeed a great performance of this masterwork.

Thank you very much uploading. Unfortunately this great pianist yesterday passed away at only 53 years of age...

one of the greatest h-moll versions, maybe even better than Roge - he reminds me one of famous Richter's recording. Great!

Very bright and innovative.
Hehe, still, mr. de Waal must have never heard of mr. Cziffra or mr. Horowitz's versions.
If only Liszt could reincarnate and give Kissin a kick...
