Today's global social problems stem from the accumulation of wealth in the hands of very few through means of coercion, forced labor, slavery, human trafficking, war, and violence. Even those social problems for which humankind is not directly responsible, such as natural disasters, are complicated by man-made economic inequalities. When we realize that humanity is of greater value than money, we will free ourselves of the burdens and sorrows of the world's most horrific and persistent social problems.

With open hearts, we can liberate ourselves from the false consciousness that betrays our true interconnected nature and, thus, alienates us from ourselves and our fellow humanity. Love will conquer all. Have hope. Change is in our hands!!

I am teaching a Global Social Problems course this semester (Spring 2010), and I made this video to introduce my students to the topics we will be covering throughout the semester. I introduce topics by units as they are outlined in my syllabus.

  • Fantastic video. Do you support the Venus project?

  • @blaziermissy I find it extraordinarily intriguing, but can't say that I know enough about it to commit one way or another. You?

  • I love this video. I'm a social work major.

  • @sarahhogue I've studied it for awhile now and it's logical and rational. It took me awhile to trust that it was logical and legit. and now I support it wholeheartedly. Check it out. Whether you're religious or not, it's the world we ALL deserve.
