MOTTEP:
National MOTTEP is the National Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program. It was conceptualized and developed based upon successful African American donor education programs of Howard University; The National Kidney Foundation of D.C. and the DOW Chemical Company. These efforts merged grass roots community based efforts and mass media skills to give birth to a program which combined an intervention effort to increase minority organ donation rates (which it did from 15% to 30% from 1995-2008), and to prevent the need for transplants by Prevention (a successful "Love Yourself, Take Care of Yourself" campaign) and encouraging the development of healthy lifestyles. This successful two-pronged mission between 1993 and 2008 is the story that is shared.
