In this tutorial, I will teach you how to compose objects in blender into real life photographs. The method in this video is how I believe the Blender Foundation will create some of the scenes in Blender's 4th Open Movie Project (Code named: Mango) - it's a sci-fi short film set in Amsterdam.

This will also help you create very realistic effect with Blender's new "Camera Tracker" feature (Became Trunk a few weeks ago and will be released in Blender 2.61).

For a better render after following this tutorial, I reccomend you add some colour correction and depth of field to the render just so it matches the colours and focus of the camera used to take the picture was set to.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

  • @TheOldalf That's a tutorial I've had in mind for a while :) I will get round to it sooner rather than later because you aren't the first who's asked about this.

  • @jlozoya6 I'm so glad you like it! Please do subscribe if you haven't already :)

  • I haven't tried this with the still photo yet, but is there any way that this could be used with a video instead of a picture?

  • @TheThroor yes, if you use Blender 2.605's (or wait a few days for Blender 2.61) camera tracking feature, you can use the same method but with video, solong as you know how to use the camera tracker.
