From His 1974 Album "Expansions"

Lonnie Liston Smith, Jr. (born December 28, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia) is an American jazz, soul, and funk musician.

Smith started out playing acoustic jazz before exploring jazz fusion, soul, and funk.

Smith played acoustic piano with Pharoah Sanders, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Betty Carter, and Gato Barbieri. He later joined Miles Davis as an electric keyboardist in the early 1970s.

In 1973 Smith founded the Cosmic Echoes band with his brother Donald Smith, a singer and piano player who has collaborated, among others, with Oliver Lake.

  • THANK S FOR POSTING ON YOUTUBE~you made my day! I like the photo images of L.L.Smith too! Bravo!

  • The person in the background, in front of the "Lonnie Smith No.1 organist" poster, is NOT Lonnie Liston Smith who composed and played this song. The person on the picture is Dr.Lonnie Smith another great organ player and jazz cat !!!!

  • I remember my late brother bought this album back in the 70's and this was his favorite cut. It took me a while to get into it but after I did and began to appreciate it, it stuck to me. A very mysterious piece of music that grabs you and pulls you in...you can close your eyes and let it take you there.

  • haunting and beautiful....one of the best pieces of music i have ever heard....if you stumble onto this page you are blessed

  • aw man neva thought some odd years later this record will resurface again in my life!!
