I saw "The Path" by Chet Raymo a few days ago. After watching this video I went back to buy it.

I could identify with your realization that the cherry tree just 'is'. I think understanding this concept is key to recovery.

While not an adherent, I came to understand this concept through Buddhist and Taoist philosophy. I would highly recommend "Living With the Devil" or Buddhism Without Beliefs" by Stephen Batchelor or "Philosophers Without Gods" by Louise Antony.

Thanks for the book recommendations! The second sounds particularly interesting to me because I appreciate some of the concepts I casually know about Buddhism, but I find the theology (like other theologies) to require positive belief in ideas that sound very unlikely to me, such as reincarnation. So a book that takes the concepts out of the theological framework sounds very interesting. I will definitely check that out, along with the others you mention.

I too view most JW's as "sad and unhappy". Rather misrable. And if they aren't that then they are just mean, self righteous and hypocritcal.

Right on!!! I agree with all you have said in your videos. The communicity I grew up in was Jehovah's Wintesses, the types and kinds of people going to their Kingdom Halls are in my eys "sad and unhappy" people.
