A child of the 70s and a cult car of the 80s - both labels apply to the W 123. Beside the spirit of the times the W 123 carried many technical innovations and safteyfeatures. A modern body in trendy colors, that's the W 123 that we all know. In the early 70s, the model series 123 was already in development. The developers paid particular attention to comfort, convenience and safety. Countless kilometers of test drives along with new test methods made sure that everything on the W 123 was of the highest quality, right down to the smallest detail.

I had to avoid a deer at the last second in my '85. I made it past, but the nippy handling of the car was what saved me. Nobody's taking my 123 from me!

I almost bought a W123 four years ago. it was a 1978 230E. Despite the fact it was registered the same week in the same month and year I was born, my then employer told me not to bother, as it "needed working on, and without MOT and tax, it'd cost too much to put it back on the road." I regret listening to him, as I have tried many a time to bid and win on ebay. I now own my first Mercedes. She's a 1992 K plate W124 200TE. One day I will have the opertunity to own such a beautiful car.

I was aware of that, but this masking is more elaborate than what we see nowadays, when they cover the (almost final) car with a black adhesive cover. Seems back then the elaboration of that protection/disguise was way more effort intensive....cheers mate!
