I think in New Zealand we screw round the perimeter of the board and glue the studs and dwang/.nogs (whatever you call them there) in the center of the board, then to make sure the board is held while the glue goes off you can temporarily screw two small pieces of drywall down the center of the board, which are taken off later, this leave only two small pin pricks rather a crater left by the head of a screw etc, so theres nothing to pop in the center of the board. some still screw the centers
I prefer screws myself, however a properly installed nail is just fine as well. Drywall was hung for decades with nails, and many of those houses are just fine. There is a difference between a tradesman and a hack!
first comment. agree with u bout using nails, screws r best, always double up nails if tape dosent cover, lot of bad rock hangers out there..... beware
