  • What does a electron tube do?

  • @marcvie9

The electron tube was the predecessor of the transistor.

It was used in radios, televisors, phonographs, jukeboxes, etc..

The circuits were very heavy, very expensive, very large and consume much more energy.

For all that reasons, they were replaced by transistors.

The difference is that the transistor amplifies current while the electron tube amplifies voltage.

Thank you very much for watching this video !!!!!!!

  • JAN =? Joint Army Navy

  • @rsp196607

The JAN designation is found on many American made new old stock tubes,

and stands for "Joint Army Navy". It means they were originally built for the military,

often with improvements in their construction and quality control.

  • @FDF38 one question: is it vacuum?

  • @FDF38 thank you very much for telling that

  • i've died and gone to heaven !

  • JAN, or milspec, is common in electronic components and not just tubes.

It has since been replaced with the AN/xxx-xxx designation, it is just more of the same.

Tubes and semiconductors come in 3 grades, consumer, industrial, and of course, military.

Industrial has several sub divisions such as hospital grade and marine grade, a question of application more than quality.

Contractor grade is the same as consumer grade, just not in the fancy package.

  • @rsp196607 joint army navy

  • Thats a work of art .... Thanks
