This is certainly an epic piece of American history when a US president would broadcast a national prayer, but these were exceptional times during WW2, and back then, people didn't have a problem with it.

Nicely heard on a Hallicrafters SX-28A receiver on the right atop the small cabinet, through the PM-23 Speaker on top, just as it might have been heard, June 6, 1944. The transmitter on the left is a 1938 Hallicrafters HT-4 (not a B but the original A model) which was not involved in this replay). The transmitter used was a Hewlett-Packard 606A Signal Generator at approximately 15 megacycles.

  • Use Google and go to the Internet Archives the look under the old time radio archives and news section. I don't have the link handy at the moment, but you can download any of the news broadcasts from that date.

  • Incredible

  • "We know that by they grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph."

"They fight not for the lust of conquest, they fight to end conquest, they fight to liberate, they fight to let justice arise, and tolerance, and good will, among all thy people."

Have we really changed? If we are an evil country out for conquest like an empire, then where is our loot? Where are our colonies? What do we have to show for our imperialistic ways? Nothing, because our cause is just.

  • Many millions were praying along with him. Our presidents haven't dared pray in public for many years. Interestingly, we haven't won a war since then, either.

Great shack! I collect boatanchors also.
