The bass line for "Forget Me Nots" by Patrice Rushen. You can't be interested in funk bass without knowing this line! Freddie Washington gives a clinic in thumping. To see him play some of the line himself, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsnPYsHhzc4 (unfortunately, he doesn't play the verses in this clip, but you get to see the creator of the line play). I include a couple of his licks, but listen to the original for all his variations.

  • SUPER JOB!!!! Did you play on th album?

  • @MDVEEJAZZ Thanks, but I definitely didn't play on the album! Look at the video description to follow a link to see the orig bassist, Freddie Washington, play the line (though he only plays the chorus). His groove is impeccable!

  • Can you please do a bass tutorial on the song called "Sandstorm" by Level 42 and "I am your mind" by Roy Ayers? Thanks! BTW, "I am your mind" is part one. It's on the beige color CD and not the red one.

  • @MultiScoffer

I'm not familiar with those tunes, so I'll have to give 'em a listen and if they're something I can/want to do.

  • Awesome thanks for this, My sons appreciate your skills 10/10!!

  • @barbenH

My pleasure. Are they bassists? Hope so. Gotta keep the funk alive!

  • Man...that was excellent!

  • all videos are amazing!

  • Excellent!

  • Great work, every note is on the One! I have a five string and a four string that i am learning to playt and it is much easier trying to play songs that i really like listening to instead of scales over and over. Your bass has a really geat sound too. Keep em coming.

  • @BassByTheBay From what I see you are a very good bass player. The tunes may be a little challenging but you can do it!
