The song was on a CD sung with the alternate lyrics with Tommy James playing guitar and singing harmony - I'm guessing he must have endorsed the lyrical shift. If it's ok with the artist it's ok with me.
That CD is well worth the purchase for any Dolly fans, btw - all covers - all great.

I think dolly parton should have sung her she's just afraid about what people are going to say ,you shouldn't. at least Joan Jett could sing her.
