Just rendert a few tests for a friend who is making a Star Trek Fanfilm.

The original Model was in 3DS max Format, converted it to C4D. Render Time was about 2 hours for all scenes together.

  • Are you parenting the Flares in AE or in C4D? Either way, what is the process?

  • @sgtppr: I used AFX. All the Flares are just hand animated with 2 Keyframes.

  • were the lens flares done in C4d also?

  • @vfxmasterorin: no, it`s Optical Flares from Videocopilot

  • cool... i like that the windows seem to be "real" windows with a glimpse inside, not just a glowing texture...

  • Very beautiful render. I especially appreciate the fact that the Constitution doesn't seem to be just 'floating' in a general direction as the Enterprise itself seemed to do all too often in TOS. Too bad J.J. didn't have you on board for ST09.

  • Fantastic Job. We are in production for a fan film as well The project is going to be extreamly high class and high energy. We just lost our effects guy and are in need of sequences, Can you help?

  • great!

  • On par with CBS DIgital and their interpretation for re-release of TOS.

Yes, the detailed interiors (even the open shuttlebay haha) were nice touches.

As far as being faithful to TOS, it's grand!

Of course the flares add a modern look to it, and if you're going 4 a modern interpretation in lieu of being 100% faithful, then a LITTLE more surface texture & specular would go a long way.

If some of the edges were just a BIT more rounded instead of being so sharp, it'd be excellent.

    WONDERFUL job!

  • That is awesome the way you can see the rooms through the windows as separate rooms. Amazing .

  • nice attention to the interior
