The single biggest pool of untapped natural resource in the world is human good intentions that never translate into action. Cindy Gallop talks about how www.ifwerantheworld.com is designed to help change the world one microaction at a time, and why the future of the real-time web is real-time action.
Gallop's background is brandbuilding, marketing and advertising. She started up the US office of ad agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty in 1998 and in 2003 was named Advertising Woman of the Year. She is an entrepreneur who launched www.makelovenotporn.com at TED 2009 and has just launched www.ifwerantheworld.com in beta with a demo at TED 2010. She acts as board advisor to a number of tech startups and also consults, describing her consultancy approach as "I like to blow shit up. I am the Michael Bay of business." @cindygallop1, @ifwerantheworld, http://www.ifwerantheworld.com
If coupled with power and unchecked government [Utopian Statism] good intentions have often been the cause of the greatest suffering in the world. I'm not saying that Ms. Gallop is advocating social engineering but the idea of an individual or a group of all powerful elites "running" the world is an eternally dangerous one. The road to ruin.
