the very end made my jaw drop damn ! lol

lots of freakin drama in this stargate

I like it too.
The other two Stargates were really great, and I enjoyed them for years, but sometimes the humor seemed to overshadow the story, and dampen down the characters.
Comedy is good, but I rarely ever felt like anyone was really in any sort of risk because of it, no matter the odds, because it could be hard to take the plots 100% seriously, with all the wisecracking going on.
I also don't think the near total lack of sex in the other two series made them any better, either.

By the way, some free sex is always good =)

actually it's more due to costs. The Longer a series remains running on any one network the more and more they have to increase the salaries of the writers, actors, directors, etc etc every season.
BSG styling is dark, but more philosophical on a planatary scale with some personal details.
SGU styling is dark, but more on a personal level (something even the general public could relate to even towards non Sci Fi viewers).

I have to say I really like this show. I loved SG1 and SGA, but some things just had to change in order to keep the franchise alive and up to date. I like the characters and the camerawork. I don't care if they got the look from BSG. That's just a natural evolution, directors and writers steal from each other, that's nothing new and no big deal. Same happens in music, literature... And I don't really see a lack of action, it's just different, more suspense, less explosions, which I like.
