  • @MyMIXmedia not even close. Wankel engines are cool, but they are way down on torque. It is the high RPM that gets them their HP numbers. It couldn't pull the TUG that usually pulls the 747.

  • @RFucknBNZ Actually that isn't entirely true. Horsepower is torque times RPM divided by 5252. Yes the rotor itself fires on all 3 sides, but the output shaft turns 3 times as fast as the rotor, so you only get 1 combustion per rotor per revolution, because RPM is measured at the output shaft of the engine. One of the big disadvantages of a wankel engine is the combustion, because the combustion chamber formed is very long and narrow which is less concentrated than a typical piston engine.
