@7855waldo So you were upset by the violence of a cops vs robbers movie that was advertised to be full of sex, gunfights, drugs, and car chases? I mean the title "To Live and DIE in LA" is a dead giveaway right? It wasn't a great movie but it was what it was...

Good question! A friend through the NY Times, where he worked, had obtained tickets to the premiere. We were psyched & spent precious $ in a restaurant before the show.
We couldn’t figure out which was more gross, the film’s violence or the riot of slobs attending the event. A great disappointment. Something pleasant would have been a long-yearned for relief from our frightful jobs (not long after, he decamped for home, New Orleans, a talented person forever disillusioned @ Manhattan).

With all due respect to JL, this film was one of the reasons why I stopped going to movie theaters. I STILL - 30 years later - remember being pissed I had wasted my money (of which at that time there was very little of).
