Desdemona @ The Bellydance Kaleidoscope 7-19-09

Desdemona is a bellydancer based in Palmdale, California. She has performed in festivals, showcases, haflas, club events, and weddings in the Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, and San Bernardino Counties. She has also expanded her performing into northern California at Tribal Fest 9 and into Las Vegas, Nevada for Tribal Nights.

Desdemona comes from a musical background, playing clarinet for a decade. She found her way into bellydance after seeing a performance by Ariellah. Following that, she became dedicated to excelling in bellydance as an art form. She first began in tribal fusion but has since studied tribal more intensely and also been influenced by tribaret dancing. In performing, Desdemona shares the joy and happiness she finds in bellydance.

Desdemona performs with veil and double veil.She has studied with some of the best and most innovative contemporary bellydancers through classes, workshops, and private instruction. After performing for a year, she began developing her own style of bellydance, which utilizes tribal posturing and technique with some cabaret based movements and flair added to it.

Desdemona is proficient in dancing with a sword and started performing with sai weaponry as well. She also dances with veil and double veil. She enjoys dancing to a wide variety of music, including live spinning (she's performed with DJ Amar of Electric Vardo) and bands ranging from Middle Eastern to rock and reggae.
