I love the Bond films, but certain obscure moments that I've noticed don't seem to have been spotted by other viewers. Here's my attempt to make these moments more public...

  • Watch Quantum Of Solace: It's a stupid movie but Bond's drinking a San Miguel in the bar where Felix Leiter appears! So, Bond drinks a beer sometimes! :-)

  • @VanHelsingNumber1 Yes, I suppose. I saw that beer as blending in rather than relaxing. Is it really a stupid film? I see it as a Big Mac compared to the Lobster Thermidor with Quails Eggs and Beluga Caviar that was Casino Royale. Both are very nice and sometimes you're in the mood for one over the other.

  • Goldeneye is one of the best.

  • I'm glad someone likes it. :0)

  • Play on words: 006 "closing time James, last call" ---we're running out of time, like the closing of a bar. 007 "buy me a pint"---playful reply back to 006 saying he needed more time to set the timers...nothing to do with actually drinking beer

  • Maybe "Double Oh Six" is not the cultured type, and 007 is willing to slum it with with the plebs by sharing a pint. Or at least allude to it.

  • @dangale Check the background behind "Quantum Of Solace".Daniel Craig himself told that the whole movie became a victim of the writer's strike at that time. It is also said that they tried to restock the holes in the story with more action scenes. So i think QOS couldn't become the satisfying movie it should be (to all participants). I think if they had the choice (if there was no profit-orientated motivation) they wouldn't have shoot it that way! (sorry for my bad grammar) :-)

  • bollocks, james bond enjoys a pint as much as the next bloke

  • To hammer a point here: When ordering/having all the other drinks, he was actually going to be drinking them or already in the process of drinking them.

In that scene of Goldeneye, the Soviet Army is about to bear down on both him and 006, and it's obviously a play on words to indicate "James, you're running out of time", and to which his response is "get me more time".

His rich tastes are still preserved. He never really had a pint of anything, nor was he really ordering any either.

  • Well he maybe referring to a pint of vodka or bourbon - at least thats what is said about the drinking habits of James Bond on wikipedia. Also the logic worked out here is that all the drinks he has been having are exotic and not 'common' and since wine doesn't come in pints, the only other exotic drink that he prefers to take that comes in a pint is vodka (which is also found in a martini)

  • Buy me a pint of time is what he was saying

  • @cameroti Precisely
