When composer George Gershwin suddenly died in 1937, he and his brother Ira had already agreed to complete a film score for a movie entitled "The Goldwyn Follies". Ira completed the lyrics for the one and last song George had finished, "Our Love Is Here To Stay", and he unearthed a melody which his brother had written in 1930 and put his pen to it for use in that film. The end result was "Love Walked In". Dinah Washington recorded it in 1960, and the song went to #30 on the pop charts in November of that year, one of the few of her recordings that ever charted.

  • Hi, Nocaro! I'm here because of the album THE TWO OF US of Washington & Benton. Some real gems inside!

  • @ENACODNOM Hi...that particular album was never completed because Dinah "walked out" of the recording session in a huff over having to record with Brook who she saw as an "inferior" performer so Mercury Records filled out the album with solo recordings by both....Nocaro

  • @Nocaro Why did she ever regard Brook as an inferior performer! The man was an all time grteat. What was

with her- we probably will never know.

  • @billchew450 Dinah saw herself as a jazz diva, first and foremost, and anyone who sang primarily pop tunes (as Brook did) would be seen in a lesser light by her. That's just some conjecture but it's probably valid to some degree.
