I took my SIG P290 to the range to put a quick hundred rounds through it today. It did not go as well as I had hoped.

The worst part wasn't the fact that I was all flinchy due to a massive headache (I have a sinus infection) or that I was pulling the gun low getting used to the new trigger at first. The worst part was that I had two light primer strikes on my very first magazine.

I will admit that I did not do my usual disassemble and clean routine before taking this gun to the range. I was in a big hurry so I just took it right out of the case and went shooting. I am hoping it is just a case of a dirty firing pin channel or something similar.

I will be taking it back to the range ASAP after I clean it. I hope the problem toes not occur again.

Luckily I did get video of the light strikesso everyone can see them and also laugh at my bad form and my disgusted look after the FTF's. :)

  • I've been looking for a single stack 9mm although I love SIG's - I'm thinking hard and unless some other compelling reason comes along will get a Beretta Nano- any thoughts? Review I appreciate your "expert" Internet advise seriously !

  • @amacro11 I wanted the Nano also. I got to finally shoot one recently and it did not impress me enough to get rid of my P290. If it had a stainless slide I might feel different but for now the P290 stays and the Nano remains at the store.

  • I picked up a P290 this weekend and had a far worse exsperience unfortunately. Ran 72 rounds through her just fine, and then complete FTF failure. She would not shoot even one more round after that. It is one of the first runs as the serial number is under 2000 and is a "first edition" model with ceremonial grips proclaiming such, but now an RMA is issues and she is headded back to the shop. I have 5 other Sig's that have NEVER let me down, so I have faith they will get this one corrected.

  • @michaeljdunn67 that is the risk we take when we willingly become beta testers for new models. Luckily the new trigger group fixes the issue right up. It turns out it was just a small part that was allowed to rotate too freely. Mine functions perfectly now.

  • @michaeljdunn67 I didn't get through 50 rounds the first time with it. Now I have fired an additional 300-350 rounds without a single failure.

  • @tubevideoguy762 I agree. Even when he triggered several "failed to fire" rounds the flinch was barely noticeable. The sign of an experienced shooter or a drunk. I don't think we was drinking. Definitely looked like a massive sinus infection to me. Hey Yankee, get that nose thing fixed dewd. If it's chronic, it won't get better man. Good luck.

  • You have a really bad flinch there bro.

  • Flinching on both of the misfires... Better do some dry fire (snap caps) work.

  • Should have stuck with your butt ugly Kahr.

  • Sig stated they just shipped 4000 of these all with the updated parts inside but they said when I go to buy it call them so they can verify the serial number and confirm it's been updated

  • @TheYankeeMarshal Yeah, I knew the risk picking this one up after reading all the reviews prior to my purchase, so I was not totally devestated, just disappointed. So how many rounds do you have through yours now, and assume that you have not had any issues since the rebuild?
