This is one of my first music videos. I tried to match the beat with the horses and riders. :) I LOVE BARREL RACING! Thanks to everyone sharing their opinions, the comments have been changed to where I have to approve them before they are posted, so if your comment doesn't come up, you know why! my daughter barrelraces, she kicks sometimes, and whips other times. With our horse if she kicks more then once or twice it actually shortens the stride. She does use spurs, only the barrel bumper, she had gotten some more agressive ones but had to quit using them because they ended up cutting the horse. I don't disagree with you, each horse is different.

I hae to use spurs on my horse or she turns to wide. Spurs and whips are an aid just like anything else(english or western) and if used wrong they can hurt the horse, if used right they can be helpful. You guys dont know these riders or their horses so dont judge until you do.

I saw nothing wrong with this video when it came to whips I barrel race myself the only difference is where I barrel race we aren't cool enough for shoots :p

I wear ball spurs on my horse but only to help him to move over and stay in his pocket. when he gets his speed sometimes leg pressure isnt enough and I dont want to crank on his face either.

there horses that need spurs and whps and there are some that dont it depends on the horse and there not being use cruelly in this video there being used as a tool to help turn shap and the whip is to get speed but i can see how it looks bad but its not as bad as it looks

im only just learning how to baral race and i dnt need to or have to use spurs or whips on her she knows what exspected she can feel my emotions when i want her to go faster i only have to click my touge or say cmon girl faster i dnt see the need to use whips or spurse!!! and if all you barral races actually had a connection with you horse i dnt thing u would need to use whips or spurs ither
